VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

To ensure we have a great program, DYF recruits more than 70 staff members each summer to help us create a wonderful and nurturing environment where not only our campers grow and become more confident in their ability to manage their diabetes, our staff learn from each other (and the campers) that they can make an incredible difference in the lives of so many children and parents.

During the summer, we have the following volunteer opportunities available:

Counselors work directly with campers, participating in the wide variety of camp activities

Counselors: 12 Head Counselors, 12 Counselors

  Counselors: 12 Head Counselors, 12 Counselors

Program staff plan and facilitate programs throughout the summer for all age groups. Emphasis is placed on participation, introduction to new activities, enjoyment and fun.

  Arts and Crafts Program: Program Coordinator, Counselor
Backpacking Program: Program Coordinator (Additional certification required)
Rocks and Ropes Program: Program Coordinator (Additional certification required)
Nature Program: Program Coordinator
Sports Program: Program Coordinator, Counselor
Pool/Aquatics: 3 Lifeguards (Additional certification required) Camp Photographer
Dietitians: Assistant Dietitians

Support staff are the backbone of everyday operations at camp. They not only support the camp's operation, but also participate in all camp wide activities with campers.

  Kitchen/Maintenance: Head Cook, 2 Cooks, 9 Prep Cooks/Dish Washers, Maintenance Assistant
Van Drivers: Class B license required
Administrative Assistant/Camp Office Manager
Camp Store Manager/Clerk (July 19-August 21)

MEDICAL POSITIONS The medical component of our program is supported by an extraordinary medical team who provide for the health and well being of all at camp. This is a great opportunity to truly understand working with children and families affected by diabetes.

  Dietitians: Registered Dietitian
Camp Nurse: Volunteer for one or more sessions
Physicians and Nurses: Volunteer for one or more sessions. We are always looking for physicians, residents, and intern, to help us manage the medical needs of our campers.
