Families in the Forest Walk Congratulations to all of the families that participated in both the Bay Area and the first ever Sacramento Families in the Forest Walks. We raised almost $60,000!!! The Bay Area walk on March 15th had a few sprinkles but it did not deter the 100 plus families from having a great time at Shadow Cliff Park in Pleasanton. Everyone gathered for an opening program lead by Mats Wallin, Executive Director and Kyle Eisenberg, camp counselor. The opening program highlights included hearing about why DYF is so important to so many. A few tears of gratitude were shed. Following the walk Eric Planzer and Kyle lead the families in camp songs. A delicious barbeque lunch, prepared by the Stanislaus Sheriff’s Deputy Association, followed the walk. Two weeks later the first ever walk was held at Sacramento’s, William Land Park. The sun shined on over 200 participants who gathered to connect with their Bearskin family. The opening program highlights included Mats talking to the walkers about the importance of their fundraising efforts and the difference it makes to DYF. The walkers then stroller around a one mile loop returning to a picnic lunch and kids play area. The kids bounce house was a big hit. A heartfelt thank you to the Bay Area and Sacramento Planning Committee Members!
DYF thanks its Year Round Sponsors whose significant contributions enable the DYF to care for children, teens & families affected by diabetes.
